Purdue faculty can join research organization free

Purdue faculty members are invited to participate in the newly established Society for Clinical and Translational Science, an organization sponsored by the Clinical and Translational Sciences Award consortium.

The partnership is offered through the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, (CTSI), a research collaboration between Purdue and Indiana University.

To register, faculty members can go online to www.zoomerang.com/Survey/survey-intro.zgi?p=WEB2298SDLMGZQ. For more information about the organization, go to www.ctssociety.org/Home/PresidentsLetterMay2009/tabid/71/Default.aspx.

For Purdue questions, contact Sydney Kisseberth, project manager for CTSI at Bindley Bioscience Center, at 49-41678 or skissebe@purdue.edu.

Membership benefits include a free 2009 hard copy subscription to CTS: Clinical and Translational Science, the official journal of the organization, a reduced registration fee for the 2010 annual meeting, and preferred hotel room assignment. The organization is planning its 2010 meeting, which is scheduled for April 5-7 at Marriott Wardman Park and Omni Hotels in Washington, D.C.

Combining Purdue's statewide Extension offices and IU's regional medical school campuses, CTSI is the only national clinical and translational sciences institute that’s also a statewide research laboratory. Purdue professor Connie Weaver, head of the Department of Foods and Nutrition, is the lead researcher at Purdue on the project.
