Monday, July 13

-- Public hearing on proposed tuition and fees at Purdue campuses for academic 2009-10 and 2010-11. Tuesday, July 14

-- Garden open house. Purdue Village Garden Committee. 5:30-8 p.m. Purdue Village Community Center (on Nimitz Drive). Awards, tours, conversation. Rain date is July 16. More on event series at http://pvilfamily.blogspot.com.

-- Purdue Summer Band Concert. Purdue Bands. Light classics, jazz, English and Irish folk tunes. Directors: Jay Gephart and Ishbah Cox, Purdue Bands. 7:30-8:30 p.m. Slayter Center. Picnics welcome; bringing lawn chairs or blankets suggested.

Wednesday, July 15

-- Summer Concert Series. Purdue Memorial Union. 5:30 p.m.: meals for purchase. 6:30-8 p.m.: free music. Outside the Union (rain location is the North Ballroom). Meals: choose one of four grilled items plus two sides and a drink for $5; or select from a la carte options and the Pappy’s ice cream cart. -- Big Ten Network program note from Penn State. "Expert Opinion: The Selling of College Sports" is second of three-part series "Expert Opinion with Graham Spanier," PSU president. 7-8 p.m. The third installment, "The College Student as Athlete," will air at 7-8 p.m. July 23 with guests including Morgan Burke, Purdue athletics director. -- Tippecanoe County Butterfly Encounter. Sunday through July 24: Seminar for Top Engineering Prospects (STEP). Session 3. School of Engineering Education. Grade 11 completed.

Sunday through July 24: Exciting Discoveries for Girls in Engineering (EDGE). Session I. Women in Engineering Program. Girls, grade 9 or 10 completed.

 

ONGOING EVENTS

Note: Purdue University Galleries will be closed during July. The exhibition "Shrouds, Masks, and the Floating World: Selections from the Permanent Collection" will reopen Aug. 3 and continue through Dec. 6. It is in the Robert L. Ringel Gallery in Purdue Memorial Union. For Aug. 3-21, the gallery will observe summer hours of 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday and by appointment. Beginning Aug. 24, it will resume normal hours of 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, plus Thursday until 8 p.m.; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. On Aug. 31, "Living Stone: The Casts Project" will open on the same normal hours in the Stewart Center Gallery. More about Galleries is at www.purdue.edu/galleries.

Events are free unless noted (except that conference registrations may be omitted here). Ticket prices are for single events, not any series or discount offers. An exception to the following will be noted in the listing.

For varsity athletics tickets, call the Athletic Ticket Office, (765) 494-3194 or (800) 49-SPORT [497-7678]; or visit the office in the Intercollegiate Athletic Facility. The office is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and before ticketed events at IAF, Mackey Arena and Ross-Ade Stadium. The Elliott Hall box office is open 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and before ticketed events there. The Stewart Center box office is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday during the summer. The Pao Hall box office is closed during the summer.
