Cancer Center changes name

The Purdue Cancer Center has changed its name and is now called the Purdue University Center for Cancer Research. The name change more accurately reflects the function of the center, says Timothy Ratliff, the Robert Wallace Miller Director of the center.

The center is one of seven basic-only science cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute.

"We want to be recognized for what we really are, and that is a research center," Ratfliff says. "It differentiates us from clinical cancer centers that see patients. In fact, our research helps make it possible for clinicians to diagnose and treat cancer."

The Purdue University Center for Cancer Research is located in the Hansen Life Sciences Research Building. More about the center is available at www.cancer.purdue.edu
