CDFS preschools accepting applications for 2009-2010

The Department of Child Development and Family Studies operates two high-quality nationally accredited early childhood education programs located near Discovery Park. Both programs are currently accepting applications for the upcoming school year.

The Child Development Laboratory Preschool (CDL) has openings for children in its prekindergarten classes for the 2009-2010 school year, beginning Aug. 26. Children must be 3½ years old by Sept. 1.

CDL is a half-day academic year program with morning and afternoon sessions available. The program is open to Purdue-affiliated and non-Purdue families.

Fees in 2008-2009 were $975 per semester, plus a $27 materials fee. Fees are expected to be 5 percent higher in 2009-2010.

The Ben and Maxine Miller Child Learning Center (MCLC) has a limited number of spaces available for children ages 2½ to 5 years for this summer and for the 2009-2010 school year. MCLC is a full-day year-round program.

Fees in the 2008-2009 school year ranged from $155 to $265 per week, depending on the child’s age and family income, plus a $90 annual materials fee. Fees are expected to be approximately 5 percent higher in 2009-2010.

The program gives first priority for enrollment to Purdue-affiliated families, but also accepts applications from non-Purdue families.

The CDFS early childhood programs accept applications for the waiting list year round for children under 5 years.
