Women in Science Program to offer summer camp for middle school students

Purdue's Women in Science Program will hold a summer camp for middle school students July 12-17.

"Science in Everyday Life" is a weeklong residential camp for students who will be in seventh, eighth or ninth grades in fall 2009.

The campers will be instructed by two Purdue graduate students and will learn about science through hands-on activities and laboratories. Students will learn about the properties of light and how they relate to watching television, how cell organization keeps plants and animals upright, and more. The students will stay in Hillenbrand Hall during the camp.

The cost is $300, which covers tuition, room and board, and materials and supplies. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available for the camp.

Registration is open for the camp at www.science.purdue.edu/WISP/ScienceScape/index.asp
