Dorothy Reed appointed assistant dean in College of Education

Dorothy Reed, former assistant provost at Purdue, has been named assistant dean for engagement in the College of Education, effective today (March 9).

Reed received a bachelor's degree in home economics education from Tuskegee University, a master's in vocational education and counseling from Purdue, and a doctorate in college and university administration from Michigan State University.

Prior to her position as assistant provost, she held positions as an academic adviser for the School of Liberal Arts and director of minority affairs for the School of Science at Purdue.

At Michigan State she was director of the Charles Drew Science Enrichment Laboratory in the College of Natural Science.  Reed also directed the MSU Office of Supportive Services, a position in which she oversaw the College Achievement Admissions, Ronald E. McNair, and Summer Research Opportunity programs.
