Tax preparation help available for international students

Representatives of the Indiana Department of Revenue will be available to nonresident international students who are filing Indiana income tax for the first time and need assistance preparing their returns.

Most of the classroom-style sessions will meet at the West Lafayette Library, 208 W. Columbia St. Sessions are scheduled every Saturday from Feb. 28 to April 11, as well as most Tuesday evenings. The sessions are reserved for international students who earned income last year in Indiana. Registration, which opens 15 minutes prior to each session, is required.

"Tax Help for International Students," a document containing a detailed schedule for the sessions and a list of required paperwork to bring, is available online. To access it, visit the University Tax Office Web site and click "Non-Resident Tax Information" listed under the "Tax Info" gold tab. The document also contains information about the Volunteer Income tax Assistance program, CINTAX, Glacier and the I-File program.
