Task force schedules 'Global Purdue - A Journey to Discovery and Innovation' workshop

Purdue's Internationalization Task Force will hold a workshop called "Global Purdue - A Journey to Discovery and Innovation" on March 6 to examine new routes for the University’s global strategic plan.

The task force is conducting the workshop to discover and explore the intersections of Purdue's traditional learning, discovery, and engagement missions while charting new waters and creating innovation as the University seeks to launch tomorrow’s leaders, create discovery with delivery, and meet global challenges.

"In the Age of Exploration, Old-World voyagers charted new routes around the globe," says Andy Gillespie, associate dean of International Programs and co-chair of the Internationalization Task Force. "Their objective was to obtain spices, silk, and precious metals. New technologies allowed these Western Europeans to sail beyond the Mediterranean, into the oceans that connected all continents, known and unknown. Today, Purdue seeks similar wealth - in knowledge, people, cultures, and global impact."

The task force invites all faculty, staff, and students to participate and share in this effort to implement Purdue's strategic plan by defining the routes to be explored and the new maps to be drawn.

Workshop details will be sent to faculty, staff, and students in February.

The Internationalization Task Force was created by Provost Randy Woodson and charged with implementing the global aspects of Purdue's strategic plan. Questions can be directed to Gillespie at andyg@purdue.edu or 4-8463.
