Adults needed for study on exercise and weight loss

Adults who are 10 to 20 pounds overweight and would like to start exercising and/or dieting may qualify for a Purdue research study focused on exercise and weight loss.

Participants must be:

* Overweight.
* 55 to 75 years old.
* Male or (post-menopausal) female.

Qualified subjects will receive a fitness test, body fat test, 12 weeks of exercise and/or dietary counseling. In addition, blood samples will be taken two times, there will be physical activity and health status questionnaires, and a sub-maximal treadmill test will be administered.

Random assignment to one of three groups will be:
* Exercise -- participate in a resistance exercise training program (12 weeks) under the supervision of our staff in our facility (no cost).
* Weight loss -- receive dietary and menu suggestions to follow (12 weeks), at our facility (no cost).
* Exercise and weight loss -- participate in a resistance exercise training program and receive dietary and menu suggestions (12 weeks), at our facility (no cost).
