Update: Traffic, parking disruptions

Here are notes on some current and upcoming disruptions on the West Lafayette campus.

-- Preparations are under way for recladding Young Hall. Fencing has been installed along the west side of the building. One row of parking spaces is eliminated while this phase of the project is being completed. Access will be available to the loading dock. The fence will be moved around the building as phases are completed. A portion of the southwest corner of the parking lot will be closed until the entire project is completed (August 2009). This area will serve as the contractor staging area. Map: www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/travel/pdf/young_hall.pdf.
For questions or concerns about this project, contact Chris Skiba at 49-62308 or ceskiba@purdue.edu.

-- The “H” parking lot (north of Mollenkopf) is closed through the end of August 2009 for the Mackey Project. More about this, related steps and their effect on parking for athletic events including basketball is at http://purduesports.cstv.com/genrel/010809aab.html.

Reminders on several existing projects

-- Construction of the Class of 1980 Plaza has closed sidewalks in the area where a person between Purdue Memorial Union and Stewart Center would walk toward State Street and Sheetz Street. Signage is posted. No building entrances will be closed. The project, which includes a brick walk, benches and plantings, is to be completed by March 30. Photos and the fence plan are at www.purdue.edu/architect/project_mgmt/joc/7653.htm.

-- The High Voltage Project upgrades at the Engineering Administration Building are scheduled to continue through Jan. 28. The drive between ENAD and Potter Engineering Center is narrowed and caution regarding workers and pedestrians is essential. The south entrance to ENAD is closed. Map: www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/travel/pdf/enad_schl.pdf. General information about the High Voltage Project: www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/HVP.

-- The High Voltage Project upgrades at Schleman Hall are scheduled to continue through March 29. Fencing extends from the building roughly eastward across Stadium Mall Drive, but the walk in front of Forney Hall of Chemical Engineering is open. Map: www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/travel/pdf/enad_schl.pdf.

-- Restoration of the utility tunnel between Hovde Hall and the Class of 1939 Water Sculpture (in Purdue Mall) will continue through the academic year. No motorized vehicles, including club cars and scooters, are to operate in the area, and four planters are placed in front of the Hovde Hall steps as a reminder.
