Campus services adjusting hours for winter break

Purdue Memorial Union, Purdue University Libraries and the Recreational Sports Center are among campus services and offices scheduling reduced hours of operation during winter break.

Generally speaking, the reductions begin Friday or Saturday (Dec. 19 or 20) as the semester ends. Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1-2 are University holidays, when nearly all operations will be closed.

Purdue Memorial Union and Stewart Center will maintain nearly all standard building hours until closing at 5 p.m. Dec. 24. They, along with the Union Club Hotel, will be closed Dec. 25-28. All will reopen Monday, Dec. 29. Stewart Center will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 31 and reopen Jan. 5. The Union will close at 11 p.m. Dec. 31 and reopen Jan. 3. The hotel will remain open through that period. A summary of hours of the buildings, Union restaurants and other details is available in a PDF here.

Campus libraries, as of Sunday (Dec. 21), will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday except University holidays through Sunday, Jan. 11, resuming normal hours Jan. 12 when the semester begins. The one exception is the Veterinary Medical Library, which will have 1-5 p.m. Sunday hours Jan. 4 and 11. Winter break hours are summarized at  www.lib.purdue.edu/libraries/hours/winterint08.html. The libraries have a mix of hours for Dec. 20. For hours through Dec. 20, see www.lib.purdue.edu/libraries/hours/deadfinalsfall08.html.

The Recreational Sports Center and Boilermaker Aquatic Center will close early (9 p.m./8:30 p.m.) Friday (Dec. 19) and use a reduced schedule Dec. 20-Jan. 10. The centers will be closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1. Standard hours will resume Sunday, Jan. 11. Both standard and winter break schedules are posted at www.purdue.edu/recsports.
