Friday, Dec. 12

-- Last day to submit nomination for 2009 Dreamer Award, to be presented at University Celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 19. More about award and celebration at www.purdue.edu/ethics. -- Tuba Christmas/ Holiday Cheer & All That Jazz. Purdue Bands. Tuba tunes at 7 p.m. in Stewart Center west lobby. Purdue Jazz Bands holiday concert at 8 p.m. in Loeb Playhouse, STEW.

Friday-Saturday (Dec. 12-13)

-- Winter Works dance concert. Purdue Repertory Dance Company. 7:30 p.m. each evening plus 2 p.m. matinee Saturday. Nancy T. Hansen Theatre, Pao Hall. -- Holidays at the Union. Purdue Student Union Board. Breakfast with Santa and Holiday Crafts. Breakfast 8-10:30 a.m. in Main Lounges, PMU; photo with Santa, $2, in Great Hall. Breakfast, prepared by Pappy's, consists of three silver dollar pancakes, a sausage link and choice of milk or juice for $2.25; coffee available for $1. -- Personal archiving: Four one-hour workshops on documentation and preservation of personal papers and items. -- The Ministry of Funny Noises featuring Brad Garton. Concert of sounds made using computers. Presented by Purdue Theatre. 7:30 p.m. Carole and Gordon Mallett Theatre, Pao Hall. Garton is director of the Computing Music Center at Columbia University in New York and a Purdue graduate. He will perform with Gregory Taylor. Opening the concert will be Crazy People, a group of Purdue Theatre students.

-- Purdue Symphony Orchestra concert: Beethoven's Third Symphony. Purdue Bands. 8 p.m. Long Center, 111 N. Sixth St., Lafayette.

-- "Preserving Memories, Making History." Local history exhibits prepared by Purdue students with owners of materials as projects in Archival Theory and Practice course taught by professors Susan Curtis and Kristina Bross. -- Season of Sharing. Boiler Volunteer Network. Step 1: Visit BVN in Room G4, STEW, and pick an ornament with the name of an area child or family in need (ornaments come from YWCA women's shelter, Salvation Army, Community and Family Resource Center, and American Red Cross). Step 2: Purchase gifts accordingly. Step 3: In week of Dec. 15-19, take gifts unwrapped to BVN for distribution. Questions: BVN at 49-62450 or bvn@purdue.edu.
