Update: Traffic, parking disruptions

Here are notes on some current and upcoming disruptions on the West Lafayette campus.

-- Today through noon Wednesday, a portion of First Street north of the Replacement Student Housing project was to be closed. The contractor will be accessing Manhole 7-13 to install high voltage cables to the site. The sidewalks will remain open and the two south entrances to Earhart will also be accessible. Map: www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/travel/pdf/rshp.pdf.

-- At the Wood Street Parking Garage, when painting of the center stair tower is complete, that tower will reopen and the south tower will close. For questions or concerns, contact Dave Dietrich at 49-62786 or dcdietrich@purdue.edu.

-- The Engineering Administration Building is undergoing work in the High Voltage Project through Jan. 28.  The drive at the east end of ENAD is closed to vehicles but open to pedestrians. On the south side, parking along the building is closed and the south entrance is closed. These closures are in addition to the adjacent fencing along the east side of the North Power Plant (HPN), which stemmed from masonry concerns. More about High Voltage Project work at ENAD is at www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/HVP/enad.php.

-- Some sidewalks have been removed for utility work around the construction for Discovery Learning Center. This is in Discovery Park near Martin Jischke Drive, Nimitz Drive, and Gates Road. This is in addition to closure of street parking spaces in that area. Expected project completion is August 2009. Map: www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/travel/pdf/no_parking_south_PUPD.pdf.

-- Near the same project, the gravel "A" lot west of the police station (TERY) will remain closed indefinitely, and sidewalks running from there along the east side of Gates Road southward to Nimitz Drive also are closed. Map: www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/pdf/tery.pdf.
