October 22, 2008 Nominations for Kaplan Award due Nov. 14Nominations for the Eleanor O. Kaplan Award are being accepted until Friday, Nov. 14.Eleanor Kaplan began her career at Purdue as the business administrator in the education department in 1979. She transferred to the School of Management in 1981, where she spent the rest of her career as a business administrator. She has left the legacy of her positive and cheerful attitude and the importance of customer-valued service. Through the generosity of an anonymous donor, the memory of Eleanor and the legacy she left is being honored by recognition of current administrative and clerical staff in the business manager organization who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in providing customer service. Recipients of the award will receive a $100 cash prize, have their names engraved on a plaque displayed in Freehafer Hall, and be recognized during an award ceremony. Two awards are made each year; one to an administrative staff member and the other to a clerical staff member. Award Criteria: Nominees for the award must presently work in the business management area on the West Lafayette campus as a business manager, account assistant, business assistant or account clerk; have at least three years of service within Business Services; and, have exhibited exceptional customer service in one or more of the following ways: Those who would like submit a nomination should fill out a nomination form and/or send a letter of recommendation that cites specific examples of exceptional customer service.
