Here is a list of events happening Oct. 17-19 at the West Lafayette campus.

Listings for exhibitions and other ongoing or weeklong events are at the bottom. Also there is information about ticket procedures for most ticketed events.

Friday, Oct. 17

-- Fulbright opportunities information session. Representatives from Australian-American Fulbright Commission and Embassy of Australia present information about research and scholarship opportunities. 1:30 p.m. Room 118, PMU.

-- Mackey Madness. Celebration of start of basketball practices, plus Big Ten volleyball (women's) vs. Wisconsin. Mackey Arena. 5 p.m.: Doors open. 5-5:45 p.m.: Autographs by men's and women's basketball teams. 6 p.m.: Volleyball. After match: Introduction of basketball teams, drills, activities.

-- Open mic night for aspiring student musicians, poets and comedians. 7:30 p.m. PMU Commons. Sponsored by PSUB.

-- Music of Billy May & Nelson Riddle. Purdue Bands' Lab Jazz Band and American Music Repertory Ensemble. 8 p.m. Loeb Playhouse, STEW.

Friday-Saturday (17-18)

-- Two lectures and community walk by Dr. Zorba Paster, Univ. of Wisconsin and host of National Public Radio show "On Your Health." Experience Liberal Arts month events. 1) "The Four Pillars of Perfect Health: How to Live Your Personal Best." 1:30 p.m. Friday. East Faculty Lounge, PMU. 2) "How to Live a Long, Sweet Life." 7 p.m. Friday. Duncan Hall, 619 Ferry St., Lafayette. For Duncan Hall, reservations required. Either lecture qualifies for a Healthy Purdue red apple. 3) Community walk. 10 a.m. Saturday. Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds.

Saturday, Oct. 18

-- Jay Severson Memorial Walk/Run. 10 a.m. Wiley Hall. Proceeds benefit the Jay Severson Memorial Fund, which provides money for education, training and counseling for the prevention of drug abuse. Entry forms are available at any residence hall front office, and walk-up registration also will be available until 9:30 a.m. on race day. Race entry fee is $10.

-- 5K Fun Run/Walk in Memory of Yeunkyung Woo. Department of Biological Sciences. 11 a.m. Start/finish at Yeunkyung Woo Memorial Garden behind Lilly Hall. Registration payments and donations benefit the Yeunkyung Woo Achieve Excellence Fund to help graduate students travel to conferences and seminars. Entry: adults, $10; students and children, $5. Monday-Friday

-- John Purdue Room Lunch Special. This week, the featured specials in the John Purdue Room are black bean (soup) and chicken burritos (entrée). 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Stone Hall. TICKETS

Events are free unless noted (except that conference registrations may be omitted here). Ticket prices are for single events, not any series or discount offers. An exception to the following will be noted in the listing.

For varsity athletics tickets, call the Athletic Ticket Office, (765) 494-3194 or (800) 49-SPORT [497-7678]; or visit the office in the Intercollegiate Athletic Facility. The office is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and before ticketed events at IAF, Mackey Arena and Ross-Ade Stadium. For ticketed sports events at other Purdue venues, tickets will be on sale before the event at the venue.

For Purdue Convocations and Purdue Theatre events and some others, go to ticket offices in Elliott Hall (lower level, northeast end by Hovde Hall) or Stewart Center (west lobby), or call (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW [914-7469]. The Elliott Hall box office is open 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and before ticketed events there. The Stewart Center box office is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and before ticketed events there.

Purdue Theatre tickets are sold also at the Pao Hall box office. It is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and before Purdue Theatre performances there.
