Update: Traffic and parking disruptions

Here are notes on some current and upcoming disruptions on campus.

-- Demolition of Student Services Annex 1 (SSA1) is scheduled to occur from Saturday (Oct. 11) through Tuesday (Oct. 14). This is part of the preliminary work for the coming Mechanical Engineering Roger B. Gatewood Wing. Much of the area is fenced already; the sidewalk between SSA1 and ME will close. Trucks removing brick and concrete will enter from and exit to Grant Street via Central Drive and winding around Potter Engineering Center (POTR). Caution is strongly advised.

-- On Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 13-14), work at manholes for the sewer lining project will involve some lane closures on or along campus: left lane on Grant Street from Central Drive to Northwestern Avenue; right lane on North University Street at Second Street; the driving lane on Oval Drive immediately south of Stanley Coulter Hall (SC), for which several university vehicle (UV) parking spots will be temporarily not in effect to allow rerouting of traffic.

A map showing both of these situations is at http://www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/travel/pdf/ssa_manholes.pdf. Lane closures are marked in green. The SSA project is marked in red.

-- On Monday and through next week (Oct. 13-17), a crane is to be placed in the Young Hall parking lot. The center section of nearly the north half of the lot will be closed to vehicles. The north entrance drive to the lot (from Grant Street) will have a truck and trailer in it. The entrance drive will be open, but a flagger may be present and caution will be needed at all times.
