Lobbying reports due Oct. 10

As part of the U.S. Honest Leadership and Open Government Act passed in 2007, Purdue is required to report quarterly on lobbying activity and costs.

Purdue's Office of Federal Relations is charged with submitting the reports.

Any contact on behalf of Purdue with a member of Congress, a member of the executive branch, or a staff member of a federal agency may be considered lobbying. A lobbying contact can take place in person, over the telephone, or through written communication. Work done to prepare for such contacts must also be tracked.

Lobbying efforts on behalf of a professional organization nor for personal interests do not need to be reported.

For the University's policy on political activities, please
review Executive Memorandum B-4 at www.purdue.edu/policies/pages/teach_res_outreach/b_4.html
Those who have had such contacts any time from July 1, 2008, through Sept. 30, 2008, are asked to submit a Lobbying Contact Report at  http://dagon.admin.purdue.edu/FLCR/user_registration.php. Reports must be submitted to the Purdue office by Oct. 10.

All lobbying efforts should be coordinated with Lisa Arafune, director of federal relations, at (202) 863-1865 or arafune@purdue.edu. She also is available to answer questions regarding whether an activity qualified under this act.
