Test of emergency alerts set for Tuesday

A test of the Purdue Alert emergency mass notification system will occur at 10 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 30).

The test will involve e-mail notices and, for those signed up, text messages. Also included in the test are all other layers of the system except the outdoor warning sirens.

The Office of Environmental Health and Public Safety, along with its Office of Emergency Preparedness and Planning, will conduct the test.

They ask that staff, faculty and students who have not signed up for text message alerts consider doing so. Text message alerts will be sent only during occasional tests such as Tuesday's test, and in actual emergencies.

Information and instructions about text message alerts, as well as much more about Purdue Alert and emergency preparedness, are at www.purdue.edu/emergency_preparedness.
