Health plan costs up 6 percent for Purdue, employees

Both Purdue and its employees will see a 6 percent increase in their health plan contributions across all plans and options in 2009.

The 6 percent increase is below the national average of 8-9 percent.

Annual rates for faculty and staff participating in the 2009 health plans will rise by a minimum of $14 up to $215 compared with 2008 rates. Purdue employees will contribute about $400,000 more for medical costs than they contributed in 2008.

Purdue will pay about $6.2 million more toward 2009 medical costs than it spent this year.

The University’s budgeted amount for 2009 medical costs is nearly $102 million. Employees will contribute just over $13 million.
