Developers invited to comment on proposed training class

Software developers in Krannert Computing Center are planning to host a customized training class on Microsoft's new animation technology.

The training class will be made up of Microsoft 6460 Visual Studio 2008: Windows Presentation Foundation and Microsoft 6461 Visual Studio 2008: Windows Communication Foundation.

The Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) is the full version of Microsoft’s new animation technology.  SilverLight is the compact version of this technology.

Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) is the replacement technology for Web services, .NET Remoting, and other distributed application technologies used in .NET, and is essential for developers who want to use the .NET 3.5 framework in enterprise development.

Normally these classes are taught in two three-day sessions, but these will be combined in a single five-day session.  Signal Learning will provide the training at one of the labs in the Krannert building.  The average price per student should be approximately $1,000. The price falls with larger numbers of students per session.

The following dates are being considered for offering these courses:  Sept. 29 – Oct. 3, Oct. 27 –31, and another possible offering in December.
