August 19, 2008 Men and women ages 35 to 65 needed for exercise research studyWayne Campbell, professor of foods and nutrition at Purdue, is conducting a clinical research study examining the body's response to resistance and aerobic exercise with nutritional supplementation in middle-age adults.Campbell is seeking adults ages 35 to 65 to participate in the nine-month study that will begin by late September/early October. The study includes a nine-month membership to a local health club or the Ismail Exercise Center on the West Lafayette campus, where participants will take part in a resistance and aerobic exercise training program. During these 9 months, participants also will be provided with nutritional supplements to consume each day. We are recruiting now for people to start by the end of September/early October. Measurements will include body composition, body weight, food intake, fitness level, metabolism, and blood hormones. Participants must be ages 35 to 65, in general good health, non-smoking, exercising less than two hours/week for the past six months, and 10-40 lbs overweight.
