Events this week

Here is a list of events happening Aug. 18-24 at the West Lafayette campus.

Monday-Friday

-- Orientation programs of various types and sizes. Boiler Gold Rush began over the weekend and was expecting 5,400 students. As many as 1,350 new international students can participate in a variety of orientation activities including a required session Thursday.  Other orientations also scheduled.

Wednesday, Aug. 20

-- Orientation for prospective hosts in International Friendship Program. Office of International Students and Scholars. 6:30-7:30 p.m. Walnut Room, West Lafayette Public Library, 208 W. Columbia St. Second of three sessions; attendance at one is required (remaining session at same hour Aug. 26). Friday, Aug. 22

-- Robin Williams comedy event ticket sales begin. (Show is at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2.) Restricted-eligibility sales open at 10 a.m. at Elliott Hall of Music and Stewart Center box offices. Sales Friday are only for Purdue and Ivy Tech Lafayette students, and Purdue faculty, staff and retirees; current ID required. Prices: $85, $65 and $49.50.
