August 4, 2008 Update: Traffic, parking disruptionsHere are notes on some recent and upcoming disruptions on campus.-- A pair of closures on South Russell Drive have ended. The tunnel-top project just south of State Street is done, as is the road reconstruction south of Harrison Street. -- Scheduled to begin today, restrictions will occur on State Street between Marsteller and Waldron streets for repair of the islands in the middle of State Street. The project is scheduled to end by Aug. 18. Map: http://www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/travel/pdf/state_st_island.pdf. -- Harrison Street in front of the Transportation Maintenance Building (TMB), just east of Martin Jischke Drive, will remain closed longer than previously announced, and is now scheduled to reopen on Wednesday. This is for a duct bank project. -- In Centennial Mall, northwest of Wetherill and extending along the North Power Plant to the Bell Tower, an area is to be fenced for a steam tunnel project scheduled to last through November. Map: www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/travel/pdf/bell_tower.pdf. -- Caution is advised on Third Street in the area of the fire station (DMNT), Shreve Hall and the Gold intramural fields as a new band practice area is constructed using space partly from the old field and partly from the former tennis courts 1-8. The project is expected to continue through much of September. Project access is using the driveway at the old wellhouse. -- Some street and sidewalk disruption remains in the area of University Street and Second Street, though some has lessened. Second Street between University and the University Street garage south entrance remains closed. South entrance access remain open from Waldron Street with lane restrictions on that segment of Second Street. The restrictions are for positioning of a lift for work on the exterior of the garage until Aug. 22; however, garage users are advised that some dust from the work may enter the garage.
