April 22, 2008 Strategic plan draft completed; forums scheduled for discussionThe Strategic Plan Steering Committee has completed its draft of Purdue University's next strategic plan, and two public forums will be held to review and discuss the draft. The committee turned over its draft plan to President France A. Córdova last week. Córdova will finalize the plan before it goes to the Board of Trustees in June. "The steering committee, tiger teams, and constituents across the state deserve our thanks," Córdova said. "Their united effort has resulted in an exciting plan that focuses on access and success for our students, advances our research agenda and efforts to deliver discovery to the marketplace, and creates initiatives to enhance Purdue's global presence. The plan also positions us to improve quality of life at the workplace, and attend to sustainability issues through campus design." The draft plan is available at http://www.purdue.edu/strategic_plan/comments under "New Synergies Draft" on the left side of the page. Visitors to the site also can post their comments. Córdova is hosting two forums in April to solicit feedback on the draft. A forum geared toward students will be noon to 1 p.m. April 25 in Purdue Memorial Union, Room 118. A forum for faculty, staff and community members will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. April 29 in Purdue Memorial Union's North Ballroom. "I have been very impressed with the interest and involvement of people at all levels in this process, and I encourage people to continue their participation by reviewing the draft plan and attending the forums," Córdova said.
