Fulbright grants available for faculty and professionals
Purdue faculty and area professionals are encouraged to apply for 2009-2010 participation in a number of Fulbright-funded programs.
Traditional Fulbright Scholar Program The program sends 800 U.S. faculty and professionals abroad each year. Grantees lecture and conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields. Application deadline for 2009-2010 participation is Aug. 1, 2008. Fulbright Senior Specialists Program This program provides short-term academic opportunities (two to six weeks) for U.S. faculty and professionals. The program creates a list of qualified candidates for each eligible discipline and then matches them with project requests from non-U.S. post-secondary academic institutions (personal research is not funded by this option). Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and peer review of applications is conducted eight times per year. Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Program This program comprises approximately 40 distinguished lecturing, research and combined lecturing/research awards ranging from three to 12 months. These awards are viewed as among the most prestigious Fulbright appointments. Candidates should be eminent scholars and have significant publication and teaching records. Application deadline for 2009-2010 participation is Aug. 1, 2008. Fulbright International Education Administrators (IEA) Program This program provides International Education professionals with insight on the society, culture and higher education system of Germany, Japan or Korea. Activities include campus visits, meetings with foreign colleagues and government officials, and attendance of cultural events. Application deadlines for 2009-2010 participation are: Japan or Korea -- Nov. 1, 2008; and Germany -- Feb. 1, 2009. Fulbright German Studies Seminars In this program, participants examine the political, social and economic institutions of Germany. Each yearÕs seminar has a distinct thematic focus. The program begins in Berlin and includes visits to other cities. Application deadline for 2009-2010 participation is Nov. 1, 2008.
