Nominations sought for Special Boilermaker Award

Nominations are being accepted for the Special Boilermaker Award, given annually by the Purdue Alumni Association.

The Special Boilermaker Award was established in 1981 to recognize a member of the Purdue faculty or staff who has contributed significantly to the quality of life and/or the betterment of the educational experience for a substantial number of Purdue students.

Consideration will given to the nominee's contribution in one or more of the following:

* Taking initiative in the creative solution of problems.

* Unselfishly contributing time and effort.

* Being a "silent leader."

* Devotion to efforts beyond the expectations of the person's professional role.

* Participating in activities that have improved the public image of, and have contributed to the growth and continuing respect for, Purdue.

Nominations should be submitted by 5 p.m. June 1 online at www.purduealum.org. Click on "Special Boilermaker Award" from the Quick Links on the right.

In order to be considered for the award, a one-page description of the nominee's accomplishments must accompany each nomination.

Nominations can be made by any person or group affiliated with Purdue, including students, faculty, staff, or alumni. The award winner will be chosen by the Special Boilermaker Award Committee, which is chosen from the Purdue Alumni board of directors engagement committee.

The award will be commemorated by a permanent plaque on Purdue Mall, and a memento of the award will be presented to the recipient.

If you need more information about the award, please contact Marty Burns, senior director- alumni activities, at (765) 494-5181 or mjburns@purdue.edu.
