Run or walk, fight cancer, get Healthy Purdue apple
The Purdue Cancer Center's 5K run/walk April 12 is offering a way to gain a Healthy Purdue purple apple while helping fight cancer.
Healthy Purdue will credit a purple apple for a six-week training period and participation in the run/walk. Six weeks before the event is March 1.
The run/walk, which is about 3.1 miles, will begin at 8:30 a.m. April 12 at Ross-Ade Stadium.
The Cancer Center is also seeking volunteers for April 11 and 12.
There has been some misunderstanding of the sleep-in option. It is not part of the events at the stadium. It allows registering and donating to receive a T-shirt without doing the run/walk, thus enabling the registrant to sleep in at home.
More about the race, registration procedure and cost, and volunteering is at www.cancer.purdue.edu.
The Healthy Purdue purple apple option requires a six-week training log. For that form, go to www.purdue.edu/healthypurdue, click on "Forms" and find the training alternative form.
