Beering to receive award from diabetes foundation
Purdue President Emeritus Steven C. Beering will receive the 2008 Living and Giving Award from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation during its annual fundraising gala on April 26.
Beering, who retired in 2000, is a supporter of the organization, which works toward finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
"Through the experiences of close friends, I've seen the daily difficulties and stress this puts on a family and I'm committed to doing what I can to further research," Beering said.
The JDRF Promise Gala will take place at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown and will include dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions. Individual tickets cost $200.
