Purdue offers cars, vans for sale
Faculty, staff and the general public is invited to purchase used vehicles from Purdue's Transportation Service.
Transportation Service has scheduled a sealed-bid sale to dispose of cars and vans that have been replaced by newer vehicles.
The vehicles will be available for viewing from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 28 and 29, and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 1.
Vehicles will be parked at the Transportation Maintenance Building, 1175 Harrison Street, West Lafayette.
Buyers may bid on more than one vehicle, but may make only one bid per vehicle. Bids must be submitted no later than Monday, March 3. Carol Cox, director of Transportation Service, says, "We are always looking for ways to reduce costs, and make the best use of our resources. This sale is an effort to reduce the expenses associated with the rental fleet. We have received public inquiries wanting to purchase our used fleet vehicles, and we are pleased that we can again offer this opportunity."
More than 20 vehicles -- 2004 to 2006 model year Impala, Taurus, Astro and Express Passenger Vans -- will be sold. Mileages range from 51,000 to 66,000 miles.
While looking at the cars and vans, potential buyers will receive information including year, make, model, mileage and estimated wholesale and retail values.
Successful bidders will be notified beginning March 4.
Those with winning bids will be able to test drive vehicles before purchasing them. Every vehicle will be sold as is, without warranties of any kind. Payment will be due to the University within 48 hours of acceptance of the bid.
Bidding instructions and a list of vehicles being sold will be posted on the Transportation Service webpage, www.purdue.edu/transportation.
