Fulbright program now coordinated through University Honors Program

The Office of Programs for Study Abroad and University Honors Program have announced a change in the coordination of the Fulbright Program on campus.

The Fulbright Program is now coordinated by the University Honors Program, and the Fulbright Program adviser is Cristy Cornell, national/international scholarship coordinator.

The 2009-10 U.S. Student Fulbright competition will open on May 1, 2008.  Eligible participants are U.S. citizens who have not earned a Ph.D at the time of application.

Students interested in applying for a Fulbright grant should contact Cornell at ccornell@purdue.edu.

The Fulbright Program was established by the U. S. Congress in 1946 to "enable the government of the United States to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries."

The program awarded approximately six thousand grants in 2006 to U.S. students, scholars, professionals and teachers to study, teach, lecture, and conduct research in more than 150 countries, and to their foreign counterparts to engage in similar activities in the United States.
