Van Meter named interim senior director in physical facilities

Erick Van Meter has been named interim senior director of utilities and construction in Physical Facilities.

Van Meter succeeds Joe Mikesell, who was appointed interim vice president for Physical Facilities in August 2007.

Van Meter began his career at Purdue in October 1982 as an instrument and control technician. He recently celebrated 25 years of service, during which time he worked his way through the utilities department in a number of capacities, including most recently director of utilities and Wade Utility Plant manager.

"Erick's thorough knowledge of the utilities department and successful leadership as its director, along with his experiences in working with a number of construction department staff, will serve him well in overseeing the activities in both of these areas," said Mikesell.

During his tenure at the Wade Utility Plant, Van Meter managed major capital construction projects. He looks forward to the opportunity to work alongside the construction team in their continued success to manage projects for other departments across campus.
