Purdue students receive Wall Street Journal achievement awards

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Huy Quang Phan and Landon Pund have been selected as Wall Street Journal 2008 Student Achievement Award winners.

The awards were established by the newspaper to provide national recognition to top graduating seniors in business at colleges and universities that are participating in its Journal-in-Education program. The students were selected by the Krannert School of Management based on their GPAs.

"These awards honor students who graduate with highest distinction," Rick Cosier, dean of the Krannert School and Leeds Professor of Management, said. "They are among our finest students and will represent the Krannert School well as they begin their business careers."

Phan, 24, is a May 2008 accounting graduate from Goshen, Ind. Pund, 24, is a May 2008 general management graduate from Mariah Hill, Ind.  In addition, two Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne students, Beata Ksionski and Mhariel McDonald, also received the award. Ksionski, 29, graduated in May 2008 with a master of business administration degree. She is a native of Poland. McDonald, 28, is a May 2008 accounting graduate from Fort Wayne. She is a native of the Dominican Republic.
