Events today, this weekend at Purdue

Here is a list of events happening Dec. 7-9 at the West Lafayette campus.

Friday, Dec. 7

-- John Purdue Room Lunch Special. This week: Butternut Squash with Caramelized Apples and Chicken Cordon Bleu. 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Reservations: 494-6845. To access the menu: http://www.cfs.purdue.edu/HTM/about/restaurants.shtml

-- Holidays @ the Union performances. Groups include Pleasantview Christian School from 11-11:30 a.m. and Lafayette Christian School Junior High Concert Choir from 1-1:30 p.m. PMU Great Hall.

-- Regenstrief Center Brownbag Speaker Series. Speakers: Beverly Sypher and John Kevan. Topic: Discovery Learning Center. 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Room 203, Mann Hall.

-- Purdue Academic Advising Association 20th anniversary celebration. 2-4 p.m. Meredith Hall dining room. Program at 2:30 p.m. PACADA was founded April 1, 1987, and currently has approximately 200 members.

-- TubaChristmas. A group of tuba and low brass instrument players will perform holiday tunes at this free concert. 7 p.m. Stewart Center Lobby.

-- Holiday Cheer & All That Jazz. Purdue's three jazz bands -- the Purdue Jazz Band, American Music Repertory Ensemble and Lab Jazz Band - will perform a variety of jazz versions of seasonal standards during this free concert. 8 p.m. Loeb Playhouse.

Saturday, Dec. 8

-- Breakfast with Santa. 8-10 a.m. Purdue Memorial Union Great Hall. Santa will be on hand to talk to children and hand out gift bags. Breakfast -- three silver-dollar pancakes, a sausage link and milk or juice is $2.25 per person. Coffee is $1. Purdue Student Union Board will be taking photos for $2, but parents are welcome to bring their own cameras.

-- Women's basketball vs. Notre Dame. 4 p.m. Mackey Arena. Tickets: Public. $10; student, $5.

Dec. 7-8

-- Purdue Repertory Dance Company will present its Winter Works 2007 Dance Concert. 7:30 p.m. both days, 2 p.m. Dec. 8. Nancy T. Hansen Theatre in Yue-Kong Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts. Tickets are $12 for the general public, $10 for students and $6 for children ages 12 and under. Reserved tickets can be purchased in the Loeb box office in Stewart Center, or box offices in Elliott Hall of Music and Pao Hall. Dec. 7-9

-- 74th annual Purdue Christmas Show. Elliott Hall of Music. The Purdue Varsity Glee Club, Purduettes, Purdue Bells, All Campus and Community Chorale, Heart & Soul, PMO specialties and the PMO Kids Choir will perform. Performances are offered at 8 p.m. Dec. 7; noon, 4 and 8 p.m. Dec. 8; and noon and 4 p.m. Dec. 9. Dec. 7, Dec. 10-11

-- Give a gift to a child or family this holiday season!  Visit the Boiler Volunteer Network in Room G4, Stewart Center, to select a gift-request ornament from our tree.  BVN partners with the YWCA, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and the Children and Family Resource Center to provide holiday gifts and other items to families in need.  Shop and bring your unwrapped gifts to the BVN by 5 p.m. Dec. 11.  Call 496-2450 or email bvn@purdue.edu with any questions. http://www.purdue.edu/odos/sao/bvn/events/calendar.htm
