Trustees approve new doctoral program, Calumet chancellor

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue University Board of Trustees today (Friday, 7/6) endorsed a new doctoral program in audiology and formally approved the appointment of the new Calumet campus chancellor.

The new doctor of audiology degree (AuD) at the West Lafayette campus will prepare candidates for clinical practice and also will include an applied research component. Purdue's Department of Audiology and Speech Sciences currently offers a master's degree in audiology and a research emphasis Ph.D. If approved by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, the new program will be open to graduate students in the fall of 2003.

In other business, the trustees also formally approved the appointment of Howard Cohen as chancellor of Purdue University Calumet, retroactive to July 1. Cohen, the former provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, succeeds James W. Yackel.
