Purdue police seek information about missing student
Police were contacted on Tuesday (Jan. 16) evening when the student's father called to report that his son, Wade S. Steffey, had not been seen by any of his friends or in his West Cary Quadrangle Residence Hall room since early Saturday. Steffey's father told police he had not heard from his son all weekend. Steffey, 19, is a freshman majoring in aviation technology from Bloomington, Ind. He is white with short brown hair and brown eyes, is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He was last seen at a party at the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity house, 900 David Ross Road, and was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt with light blue stripes and light-colored jeans. At 1:11 a.m. Saturday, Steffey's bank account was accessed at an automated teller machine at 1122 W. Stadium Ave., which is located in the lobby of Ford Dining Court. "Wade's friends and relatives have told us that it is not like him to disappear without alerting anyone or to miss class," said Purdue police Capt. John Cox. "We are asking anyone who has information about Wade or where he might be to contact us as soon as possible." Anyone with information related to the case or knows of any suspicious activity in the area is asked to call the Purdue Police Department at (765) 494-8221 or the anonymous tip line at (765) 496-3784.
