Author to sign Purdue Pete Children's Book at Homecoming Celebration

Purdue College of Liberal Arts alumna Angie Klink will sign her award-winning children's book Purdue Pete Finds His Hammer (Mascots for Kids, $14.95) during Purdue's Homecoming Celebration on the Mall, Saturday, September 23, from 9 to 11 a.m. Her book won an American Advertising Federation ADDY® Award in February.

Klink will be at the College of Liberal Arts Tent near the Mechanical Engineering building.

The College of Liberal Arts Student Council will sell Klink's book and proceeds will go towards the Chris Ribneck Scholarship. Other events at the tent will include a free Purdue Pete coloring page and a special gift to those Liberal Arts alumni who stop by and update their contact information.

In Purdue Pete Finds His Hammer, the reader travels with Pete across the Purdue campus searching for the missing mallet by lifting and peering under die-cut flaps. The book is superbly illustrated with many Purdue landmarks, including the Boilermaker Special, Ross-Ade Stadium, Mackey Arena, the World's Largest Drum and the fountain in front of Hovde Hall.

Klink found inspiration for the book from her younger son who loved Purdue Pete as a toddler. She searched for a book about the Boilermaker icon but found none, so she decided to write one of her own. Klink has a degree in communication and is an award-winning advertising copywriter and columnist.
