Housing and Food Services events to give employees a breakWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Employees of Purdue's Housing and Food Services hope to make a big splash during an upcoming celebration of summer.The first event will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 1) at Squirrel Park, located at Indiana 26 and Airport Road across from Purdue West. With many managers stationed in a dunk tank or lined up as targets in a human ring toss, between 400 and 500 employees will have a chance to have fun at their expense. The list of targets in the human ring toss from 1:30-2:30 p.m. includes Nancy McGlothlin, general manager of Hawkins and Young halls; Dave Larson, residential life manager at Shreve Hall; Elaine McVay, director of marketing and communications for Housing and Food Services; Kyla Houston, general manager at Wiley Hall; Sarah Casares, residential life manager at Hilltop Apartments; Jason Boron, residential life manager at Meredith Hall; Marilyn Wolber, assistant dining court manager at Windsor Hall; Barb Frazee, director of University Residences; and Sarah Johnson, director of Dining Services. General managers Wendy Tommas-Dolick of Windsor Hall, Denton Sederquist of Tarkington Hall and Kevin Maurer of Harrison Hall, and Purdue Village service worker Dave Lentz are all lined up to take turns in the dunk tank from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Later that afternoon, the annual HFS softball league will hold its annual picnic and championship game. The picnic, open to the members of all eight teams in the league, will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Gold Field No. 6. The first pitch of the championship game will be thrown at 6:45 p.m. "The league gives all HFS employees, from student workers to administrators, a chance to have fun and interact outside of work," league co-commissioner Sederquist said. Dave Brown, systems administrator from Purdue Memorial Union, is the other co-commissioner. Along with bragging rights for the next year, the top team will win the league's traveling trophy.
