Blues legend B.B. King to perform at Purdue Nov. 5WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Blues legend B.B. King, considered by many as "King of the Blues," will perform in Purdue University's Elliott Hall of Music on Nov. 5.
King, a Mississippi native, got his first break in show business in 1948 as a musician on a radio show in Memphis, Tenn. In 1987, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the organization that produces the Grammy Awards. King's many classics include "The Thrill is Gone," "Payin' the Cost to be the Boss," "Everyday I Have the Blues," "You Don't Know Me" and "Why I Sing the Blues." Purdue Convocations and the Student Concert Committee are sponsoring the performance. Tickets are $41.25 for the general public and $31.25 for Purdue and Ivy Tech students and children under age 19; prices include a facilities fee. Tickets go on sale to Purdue and Ivy Tech students, and Purdue faculty and staff with a current ID, at 10 a.m. Aug. 4 at the Elliott Hall of Music and Stewart Center box offices at (765) 494-3933. Tickets for the general public will go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 5 at Ticketmaster at (765) 743-5151. Friends of Convocations may order advance tickets starting at 5 p.m. July 24 by calling (765) 494-9712.
