Foltz, Koehn elected to lead Purdue Student Government

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Jonathan Foltz, a junior from Indianapolis, is the new president of the Purdue Student Government. Mary Koehn, a junior from Hinsdale, Ill., will serve as vice president for the 2006-07 school year.

"One of the major aspects of our platform was a commitment to address student costs at Purdue," Foltz said. "Many students are graduating with large loans, and we want to be sure student government acts as a voice for those facing significant financial challenges."

The team also plans to work on improving students' political awareness and campus safety while in office.

Foltz is majoring in computer graphics technology and has been serving as a liaison between PSG and the local government. He is active in the Purdue College Republicans, Campus Crusade for Christ, Navigators and the Debate Team.

Koehn, who is majoring in political science, is a member of Delta Gamma and is secretary for the Purdue College Republicans Executive Board.

More than 5,000 students voted in the election.
