Purdue Village garden plots available to public for rent

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The public will have the opportunity to rent garden plots on the Purdue University campus for the summer beginning March 25.

About 300 plots of various shapes are available on a first-come basis from 5-6 p.m. by coming to the Purdue Village main office, 250 Nimitz Drive. Renters will be able to choose from the available plots, which are located between Purdue Village and the Purdue Airport.

Anyone renting a plot can use it from April through October for any type of gardening. All care of plants in the garden will be the renter's responsibility, said Beth Homrich, Purdue Village residential life manager.

Students, staff, faculty and community members are invited to help plot the gardens, marking the borders of each garden. Volunteers can meet at 9 a.m. on March 25 at the Garden Park Pavilion on Airport Road, and will have first choice on gardens.

Prices for the plots start at $20 for the season and they range in size from 12 by 25 feet to 25 by 50 feet.

After Sunday (March 26), remaining plots will be available for rent from 4-5 p.m. each Wednesday in April. Anyone not able to personally reserve a plot at that time can contact Purdue Village at (765) 494-2090 to make other arrangements.
