Madeleine Albright to speak at Purdue

Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will speak at Purdue University Thursday (March 2) about "Globalizing the World's Technology Supply" as part of National Engineers Week.

The lecture will take place at 8 p.m. in the Purdue Memorial Union North and South ballrooms. The event concludes with a book signing of Albright's autobiography from 9:15-10:15 p.m. in Purdue Memorial Union, Room 118.

Albright, who was nominated by President Bill Clinton, was confirmed in 1997 as the first woman secretary of state and was the highest-ranking woman in the history of the U.S. government.

The media are invited to take photos and video of Albright from:

  • 5-5:15 p.m. on the staircase inside the main entrance of the Purdue Memorial Union.

  • 8-8:10 p.m. in the North and South ballrooms of Purdue Memorial Union, during the introduction of Albright.

There will be no photographs, audio recording or videotaping permitted during Albright's talk.

Albright requests that the question-and-answer session following her talk be used as an exclusive opportunity for the general public to ask her questions.
