INDIANAPOLIS The Midwest high-tech industry now has a new online publication Crossroads Technology Report (CTR), a technology-focused Web site that gives a voice to technology innovations in the Midwest. The Web site is a clearing house for regional technology news and original technology stories by Midwestern authors.
The Web site was founded by Jerome McCluskey, president of Crossroads Media and an associate at Baker & Daniels LLP. The editor for CTR is Jeremy Shere, a Bloomington, Indiana-based writer with deep experience writing on science and technology subjects.
Technology news is uploaded on a regular basis, and the Web site's blog area allows visitors to exchange ideas about technology issues. The organization also will distribute a monthly e-newsletter, CTR Wire, beginning in March. In addition, the organization has begun to publish a monthly technology update and guest column in cooperation with local media outlets.
"There is so much technology going on in the Midwest and much of it is overlooked in the national media," McCluskey said. "Our mission is to cover the people, trends, research and businesses that are driving the high-tech economy of the Midwest. We created CTR to shine a light on the Midwest and its importance as a technology leader."
The Crossroads Technology Report is co-sponsored by Baker & Daniels LLP and Purdue University. Topics discussed on the site include emerging technology ("Lab Bench"), trends impacting Midwest technology ("Spotlight") and technology business issues ("Bottom Line"). CTR is targeted to the Midwest research and technology community, technology-focused business executives and anyone with an abiding interest in technology and how it impacts the Midwest region.

McCluskey also is founder of the Indiana Innovation Network, a statewide organization launched in May 2005 to facilitate the transfer of technology from universities to the marketplace. Although Crossroads Technology Report is a separate initiative, McCluskey's goal is similar with both organizations: to inform and educate broader audiences throughout the Midwest about the vibrancy and breadth of technology innovation in their own backyards.
