Deadline for filing financial aid applications approachesWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Current and prospective Purdue University students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, commonly known as FAFSA, by the March 1 priority filing date. The 2006 application is the one form needed for federal-, state- and Purdue-issued financial aid, said Joyce Hall, executive director of Purdue's Division of Financial Aid. Students may also file after March 1 and still qualify for most federal aid programs. "Purdue's financial aid office has been very proactive in getting the word out on filing the FAFSA, and on the financial aid process as a whole throughout annual outreach events at 17 area high schools," Hall said. "We've also sent mail and e-mail reminders to students and participated in College Goal Sunday, a statewide financial aid filing workshop." Hall encourages students and parents to obtain their personal identification number to sign the form electronically. This process can be completed along with filing the form online at a Department of Education Web site, Hall said. For information about the financial aid process and filing the form, visit the Division of Financial Aid in Schleman Hall, Room 305, call (765) 494-5050 or go online.
