Author to sign children's book on Purdue Pete at Pappy's

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue alumna Angie Klink will sign her children's book "Purdue Pete Finds His Hammer" this week at Pappy's Sweet Shop in the Purdue Memorial Union.

Klink will be on hand from 5-8 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 8) to sign the rhyming, lift-the-flap children's book. Purdue Pete will visit from 5-7 p.m. to also sign the book.

In "Purdue Pete Finds His Hammer," the reader travels with Pete across the Purdue campus searching for the missing mallet by lifting and peering under die-cut flaps.

Klink found her inspiration for the book from her younger son, who loved Purdue Pete as a toddler. She searched for a book about the Boilermaker icon but found none, so she decided to write one of her own. Klink, who graduated from Purdue with a degree in communication, is an award-winning advertising copywriter and columnist.

Pappy's Sweet Shop is featured in the book, along with other illustrated images of Purdue landmarks and icons such as Mackey Arena, Ross-Ade Stadium, the Boilermaker Special, the bell tower, the Purdue fountain, the world's largest drum and Pete's friend, Rowdy.

"Purdue Pete Finds His Hammer" is available for sale at the eatery for $14.95. More information about the book is available online.
