October 17, 2005 Purdue Homecoming king and queen crownedWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Alex Fenske of Richton Park, Ill., and Stephanie Tieken of Wadesville, Ind., on Saturday (Oct. 15) were crowned Purdue University's Homecoming king and queen during halftime of the Purdue-Northwestern game.
Tieken is a senior majoring in neurobiology and physiology, and Fenske is a senior majoring in management. Fenske and Tieken were selected based on several factors. Formal interviews by a panel of judges composed of faculty, staff and students made up 45 percent of the score, online student voting accounted for 40 percent, appearances at campus and community events made up 10 percent, and applications and essays accounted for 5 percent. The Homecoming court, made up seniors and elected by students, was introduced at the game. They are: Diana Daniely, a management major from Greenwood, Ind. Christina Jackson, a visual communications design major from Vermontville, Mich. Megan Keffaber, a management major from North Manchester, Ind. Ashley Meadows, a public relations and advertising major from Fort Wayne, Ind. Jodi Stephens, a health sciences major from Valparaiso, Ind. Lindsey Vacek, a French language major from Riverside, Ill. Dave DeMarzo, a social studies education major from Wheaton, Ill. Jake Eisterhold, a health sciences major from Poseyville, Ind. Erik Gardstrom, a construction engineering and management major from LaGrange, Ill. Peter Lazarz, an economics major from Indianapolis. Andrew Schmelz, a pharmacy major from Corydon, Ind. Nathan Taulman, a food science major from Remington, Ind.
