BioVitesse to present at Chicago venture forum showcasing women-led firms

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Springboard: Midwest today announced that it has selected BioVitesse Inc., a Purdue Research Park biotechnology company led by Laila Razouk, to present at the Springboard 2005: Midwest Venture Forum on Wednesday (Sept. 28) at Northwestern University's Thorne Auditorium.

The forum, which showcases the region's most talented women entrepreneurs to an audience of the Midwest's top corporate, angel and venture investors, is hosted by Northwestern University's Center for Women Entrepreneurs in Technology (CWET) and Springboard Enterprises. Featured presenters include biotechnology, life sciences, medical devices, software, technology, business services and consumer-products companies.

"Enabled by a proprietary micro-fluidic biochip technology that BioVitesse has licensed from Purdue University, our quality control monitoring systems detect and identify live bacteria in two to four hours rather than the traditional two to seven days - a breakthrough in the fast-growing industrial microbiological control market," said Laila R. Razouk, BioVitesse's president and CEO. "We are excited with the market opportunity ahead of us and with the excellent feedback we're getting from our potential customers."

Prior to participating in the forum, presenting companies underwent a three-month selection, training and coaching program that involved hundreds of investors, accountants, lawyers, bankers and business development professionals. "Springboard Venture Forum will proactively connect these hardworking women-led companies with regional investment capital opportunities," said CWET Director Nancy Sullivan.
