May 6, 2005 Purdue Convocations announces its 2005-06 seasonWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue Convocations 2005-06 season will include 30 shows, four of which have two performances, as well as seven series and three special events. The series are Continental Drift, Rhythm in Motion, Center Stage, Classics, Jazz Set, Family Adventures and Lively Arts. "Continental Drift is a new series. It launches a set of investigations of compelling music from around the world," said Todd Wetzel, director of Purdue Convocations. "I'm also excited to present Rhythm in Motion, another new series. It begins a set of conversations with the leading choreographic voices of our time." In addition to the scheduled performances, Purdue Convocations also is rolling out its largest collection of residency and outreach activities in the organization's history. Called Experience + activities, these outreach events include preshow lectures, films, panel discussions and classes taught by both touring artists and local experts. "Audiences will have the opportunity to experience Convocations at a much deeper level," said Laura Clavio, associate director of Purdue Convocations. "There are opportunities for school children and lifelong learners alike to not only enjoy a performance, but also to also learn more about an art form." General public series season ticket prices range from $54 for the Continental Drift Series to $175 for the Lively Arts Series. Student and child series ticket prices range from $36 for the Family Adventure Series to $124 for the Lively Arts Series. Discounted prices on series subscriptions are available to Purdue students and retirees and senior citizens. General public single-ticket prices range from $11 to $48. Discounts on single tickets are available to Purdue students and children. Advance tickets are on sale now and may be purchased as a series or as single tickets. The per show savings is greatest when tickets are purchased as a series, however, patrons also can save money and enjoy flexibility by creating a Pick 5 package. "The Pick 5 package is the most popular advanced sales purchasing method," said Katie Hutton, director of marketing for Purdue Convocations. "Patrons can pick any five shows offered and save money from the single-ticket prices. It allows them to see shows that work with their interests and schedules." Ticket order forms are available online, in the 2005-2006 Convocations brochure or by calling (765) 494-9712. Friends of Convocations' orders received by June 6 will receive priority processing. All other orders are processed in the order they are received. For information on becoming a Friend of Convocations, contact Shannon Milton at (765) 494-9712.
