May 6, 2005 Purdue graduates to take part in commencement ceremoniesWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue University will award degrees at five campuses and eight College of Technology locations throughout Indiana during commencement ceremonies this month. Ceremonies at the West Lafayette campus are scheduled for May 14-15 at the Elliott Hall of Music. An estimated 5,798 degrees will be presented in four ceremonies that weekend, including 4,490 undergraduate degrees, 231 professional degrees, 796 master's degrees and 281 doctoral degrees. University President Martin C. Jischke and Tamara Morse, president of the Purdue Alumni Association, will address graduates at each ceremony. The ceremonies will feature two large video screens above the Elliott Hall stage. The screens will display a close-up image of each graduate receiving their diploma. Tickets, issued to graduation participants for family and friends, are required for admission. The commencement ceremony schedule for the West Lafayette campus is: Saturday (May 14), 9:30 a.m., colleges of Liberal Arts and Science. A class response will be provided by Emma Doud, of Wabash, Ind., a graduate of the College of Science. Saturday (May 14), 2:30 p.m., School of Management and College of Technology (West Lafayette and Indianapolis campuses only). A class response will be provided by Anthony Gregory, of Hurricane, W. Va., a graduate of the College of Technology. Sunday (May 15), 9:30 a.m., College of Engineering and School of Veterinary Medicine. A class response will be provided by Emily Hunter, of Carmel, Ind., a graduate of the College of Engineering. Sunday (May 15), 2:30 p.m., colleges of Agriculture; Consumer and Family Sciences; Education; and Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Sciences. A class response will be provided by Aaron Roberson, of Greenwood, Ind., a graduate of the College of Education. Commencement videos for each school will be available. A DVD costs $30. Video order forms are available at Stewart Center's Loeb Playhouse box office or by calling (765) 494-3933. Order forms can be submitted both before and after each commencement ceremony. Commencement times and locations at other Purdue campuses are: Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne: 7 p.m. Wednesday (May 11) at the Memorial Coliseum and Exposition Center, where 757 Purdue degrees will be conferred. Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis: 3 p.m. Sunday (May 8) at the RCA Dome, where 961 Purdue degrees will be conferred to graduates from the Indianapolis and Columbus campuses. Purdue Calumet: 1:30 p.m. Sunday (May 22) at the Star Plaza Theater in Merrillville, where 550 degrees will be conferred. Purdue North Central: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (May 10) at the Valparaiso University Chapel, where 495 degrees will be conferred. College of Technology commencements at locations around the state are: Anderson/Muncie: 3 p.m. Saturday (May 7) at Anderson University's Warner Auditorium, where 25 degrees will be conferred. Columbus/Southeast Indiana: 7 p.m. Sunday (May 8) at Columbus North High School, where 55 degrees will be conferred. Kokomo: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (May 10) outside the Kelly Student Center on the Indiana University Kokomo campus, where 34 degrees will be conferred. Lafayette: 7 p.m. Thursday (May 12) at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. Training and Reception Center, where 22 degrees will be conferred. New Albany: 5:30 p.m. Monday (May 16) at the University Center Hoosier Room on the Indiana University Southeast campus, where 32 degrees will be conferred. Richmond: 6 p.m. Friday (May 13) at Richmond High School's Tiernan Center, where 15 degrees will be conferred. South Bend/Elkhart: 6 p.m. Tuesday (May 10) at the University of Notre Dame's Joyce Center in South Bend, where 33 degrees will be conferred.
