March 11, 2005 Purdue Libraries to conduct EndNote training sessionsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue University Libraries will conduct training sessions on March 21-22 in the John W. Hicks Undergraduate Library for EndNote, a software package that aids in citation management for researchers. The classes are free and open to students, faculty and staff from all Purdue University campuses. Those interested in attending the classes can register online. Donna Kirking, a California-based EndNote training coordinator, will conduct the training sessions. This marks the first time at Purdue that EndNote training has been conducted by an official company training coordinator. EndNote training begins with identical three-hour introductory demonstrations at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on March 21 in the Undergraduate Library's lower-level bookstall. A three-hour hands-on training session, which will feature the same content as the introductory demonstrations, is then scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on March 22 in the Undergraduate Library, Room G959. The hands-on training session will be followed by a question-and-answer session for advanced EndNote users from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the same room. The training sessions will focus on basic EndNote applications as well as the interaction of the software with other computer applications, such as online resources and Microsoft Word. Priscilla Geahigan, a professor of library science at Purdue, will coordinate the training sessions. For more information about the classes, contact Geahigan at (765) 494-2914, geahigan@purdue.edu.
