February 28, 2005 'Discover Purdue' show carries through March, concludes with Keady tributeWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue University's weekly television program "Discover Purdue" moves into March, concluding with a tribute to Gene Keady, who is retiring as the head men's basketball coach at the end of this season. Guests on the five programs airing in March and early April also include Miss Purdue Sarah Gentry and Professor Tom Turpin the first week, Big Ten Conference diving champion Carrie McCambridge and Vice Provost for Engagement Victor Lechtenberg the second week, Vice President for Human Relations Alysa Rollock and orientation director Patti Dulik the third week, Professor Bill Harper and Dean of Technology Dennis Depew the fourth week, and female aviator Keri Wiznerowicz along with Dean of Liberal Arts Toby Parcel on the final program. The half-hour program has a total of 13 installments for statewide distribution during the first three months of each year. Along with the studio interviews, each program also includes campus feature segments, the last of which will be the tribute to Keady, who is concluding his legendary 47-year coaching career at the end of this, his 25th year at Purdue. The tribute will include the coach's comments following his final game in Mackey Arena and his final team banquet. The "Discover Purdue" program is presented jointly by Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP) and the Office of University Relations and is available on the World Wide Web. The program appears on four PBS television stations in Indianapolis, Merrillville, Fort Wayne and Evansville, reaching a total viewer audience of nearly 1.2 million, plus millions more on cable systems throughout Indiana, the Chicago area and one county in Kentucky. In Lafayette-West Lafayette, the program is seen every Tuesday at 11 a.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m. on Insight Communications Cable (Channel 13). On Purdue's West Lafayette campus, the program airs every Monday through Friday at 6:30 p.m. on the Purdue Channel on Insight Communications (Channel 5) and the University Residences Television Antenna System (Channel 15). Outside the Lafayette-West Lafayette area, the program is seen as follows: Indianapolis area and on many cable systems statewide on WFYI-TV (Channel 20) Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. EST. Northwest Indiana and Chicago area on WYIN-TV (Channel 56) Sundays at 8 a.m. CST. Evansville area on WNIN-TV (Channel 9) Sundays at 9 a.m. CST.
